please feel free to bring along something to remember you loved one by e.g momento, photo, trinket, balloon etc
We invite you to join us as we stroll together along the shores of the Whakatane River to remember a loved one passed. This is a free community event where people are invited to bring along a momento (photo, trinket, balloon etc) of a loved one passed while we take a gentle stroll from the Whakatane Yacht Club to the Whakatane Heads. We will gather for a special twilight flower raft release and remembrance service at Te Wahi o Te Hau o te Rangi Tutua Reserve (grassy area in front of the end carpark). Please bring a rug and a picnic tea.
The Dream Chaser Foundation will have a sausage sizzle and drink stand available for a small fee and will provide hot drinks for free.
Although the Dream Chaser Foundation is a child cancer charity, we extent this invitation to anybody who would like to remember a loved one. If you would like to submit a picture to be included in the remembrance video (played via a projector on the night, weather permitting)
Please send your picture and name to: firstname.lastname@example.org
What is a flower raft? It is a raft made out of sticks/driftwood bound by flax that can be decorated with seashells and flowers (see pic below). We will be releasing these on the outgoing tide. They are very simple to make and can make for a beautiful tribute to your loved one.
