[mls_mark]Chace’em Up the Mount 2014 – Important message. Out of respect to the whanau of little Jack Dixon and the incredibly sad incident at the Mount, we have decided to postpone the “Chace’em Up the Mount” to Saturday December 13th. We have been in contact with a family representative regarding our suggestion to move the date till further in the year. She responded very kindly and insisted that the family supported us going ahead with whatever date we decided on. We send our most heartfelt condolences to them at an incredibly difficult time, our hearts are always heavy when we hear of a family who is facing such heartache. We hope that our supporters, teams and spectators will still join us for this event on Saturday 13th December. The Dream Chaser Foundation will also be donating a koha to the Dixon whanau from this event.[/mls_mark]

Precious Memories, Unseen Angels – The Dream Chaser Foundation’s Remembrance Walk 2013

[mls_h4]Precious Memories, Unseen Angels – Remembrance Walk 2013[/mls_h4]

Come rain or shine, our loved ones will be on our mind.

When: Saturday 30th November, 2013

Start point: Whakatane Yacht Club 6pm

Finish Point: Te Wahi o Te Hau o te Rangi Tutua Reserve (grassy area next to the end carpark at the Heads)

Cost: Free

please feel free to bring along something to remember you loved one by e.g momento, photo, trinket, balloon etc

We invite you to join us as we stroll together along the shores of the Whakatane River to remember a loved one passed.   This is a free community event where people are invited to bring along a momento (photo, trinket, balloon etc) of a loved one passed while we take a gentle stroll from the Whakatane Yacht Club to the Whakatane Heads. We will gather for a special twilight flower raft release and remembrance service at Te Wahi o Te Hau o te Rangi Tutua Reserve (grassy area in front of the end carpark).  Please bring a rug and a picnic tea.

The Dream Chaser Foundation will have a sausage sizzle and drink stand available for a small fee and will provide hot drinks for free.

Although the Dream Chaser Foundation is a child cancer charity, we extent this invitation to anybody who would like to remember a loved one. If you would like to submit a picture to be included in the remembrance video (played via a projector on the night, weather permitting)

Please send your picture and name to:   preciousmemories30.11.13@gmail.com

What is a flower raft? It is a raft made out of sticks/driftwood bound by flax that can be decorated with seashells and flowers (see pic below). We will be releasing these on the outgoing tide. They are very simple to make and can make for a  beautiful tribute to your loved one.
